When someone goes to Google and looks for a product or service, most of the time they're close to making a purchase. The same goes for when a homeowner is searching for a trade they need.
For a lot of people not in the trades, it can be a daunting task finding the right contractor for their problem. That’s because of this right here:
How does someone know who is the most reliable? Who does the best work?
The biggest question they want answered?
Can this contractor fix MY problem?
That’s where Google My Business comes in your favor.
How To Make Sure The Customer Call You First
If you have a website or even just a social media page, when someone searches for your trade, you'll show up on google.
The problem is so will thousands of other contractors.
Then you have to cross your fingers and hope that your target customer is going to click on your website and stay on long enough to set an appointment.
One of the best ways to make a business stand out from the rest is to add the service section to their Google Business Profile. This gives contractors who use it a big advantage, as it helps rank in those indirect searches.
For example, the homeowner might search “kitchen cabinet replacement” which may be hard to rank organically, as your category and business name are centered around interior remodeling.
However, with the right selected services in your Google Business Profile, you can skate right around that issue and add the most popular service you provide to help you rank higher in those indirect searches.
What makes the services sections so useful is that you can get very specific when adding them. The more specific you are in your offerings, the more qualified your leads will be.
Adding a description with relevant keywords to your services always helps.
There is also an option to add prices, but with the construction industry so competitive and the prices of materials changing so often, it’s not the best if your goal is getting more clients.
Show And Tell
It is a lot more effective to show someone a result than to tell them. Adding pictures and videos, gives you the opportunity to highlight your work, posting updates, and promos if you offer them.
By doing this, it’ll allow the homeowner to see how your work is and what kind of jobs you specialize in.
If a homeowner is wanting their kitchen remodeled, they see your profile, click and see exactly what they want done.
You can never have enough photos and videos on your profile.
The best part is you won't be competing against photos of baby animals like on social media.
What To Do Now
Google Business Profile for the construction industry is a powerful tool when it's set up correctly; it allows contractors to rank higher on organic local searches.
Just like we talked about, local is key! Your contracting business is serving local areas, so it’s important that it can be found by local homeowners in their searches.
With these few steps you can ensure that your google business profile stands out from the rest.
